School Business Manager

About the Role
EduExec Recruitment is working with a warm and inclusive academy in London to recruit a new School Business Manager on a working 30 hours per week basis with flexible arrangements, including some home working. This pivotal role is central to the smooth running of the school, covering finance, HR, premises, IT, and administration. You’ll be supported by an approachable Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, work alongside external finance and HR providers, and lead a team of two long-standing and experienced colleagues who know the school inside out. With well-established systems, processes and procedures already in place - including a recently upgraded IT and finance package - this is an excellent opportunity to be immersed in school life and take pride not only in the outcomes of your role but in the wider success of the school.
We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive, and ready to contribute across all areas of school business management. The successful candidate will be confident in leading people, managing multiple responsibilities, and supporting teaching and learning through efficient operations. Flexibility in working arrangements and the ability to balance on-site and remote working will be essential, as will the willingness to become an active and visible part of school life.
This role would suit an experienced School Business Manager who wants to contribute fully across all operational areas in a school where relationships matter. Alternatively, it is ideal for someone currently working in an academy school-based finance, HR or operations role, who is ready to step up into a broader SBM role with strong backing in place. Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach will be key to working effectively with the Headteacher, SLT, your team, and the wider school community. There's genuine flexibility on how the hours are worked across the week, with the only caveat being to ensure attendance of school or governor meetings as they arise. Given the nature of the requirement, candidates who are immediately available or on short notice would be ideal. The role is a term time only position, plus two / three weeks to be agreed with the Headteacher.
