About the Role

My client is an ambitious secondary school based in South-East London, looking to recruit an attendance manager to lead the attendance strategy, working closely with families, staff and external agencies. This role offers the opportunity to shape a culture of high expectations and help every child thrive.

As the Attendance Manager, you will oversee the school’s attendance operations and coordinate interventions to improve punctuality and help reduce any barriers to attendance.  

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and leading a whole-school attendance strategy aligned with DfE guidance
  • Monitoring attendance data and reporting to SLT, governors, and external agencies
  • Leading on early intervention plans and attendance panels for identified pupils
  • Line-managing the attendance team and ensuring robust operational processes
  • Building strong relationships with families and organising engagement campaigns
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory attendance requirements and safeguarding standards

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in managing attendance or pastoral systems within a school setting. This could suit an experienced Attendance Officer, looking to step up to a managerial role. You will be confident in using data to drive improvements, delivering staff training, and coordinating multi-agency interventions. Essential skills include excellent leadership, communication, and organisational abilities, alongside empathy, resilience, and a commitment to improving pupil outcomes. The role is offered on a term time basis, plus 2 weeks.
